What do you hope to study when you go to college and why? How is the pre-collegiate helping you meet your goals?

  1. When I go to college, I would like to major in Pharmacy, and double minor in English and French. The colleges I am interested in are: The University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, The University of Portsmouth in England, and Yale.
I would like to be a pharmacist because I will not be exposed to blood and at the same time, I will be able to help people who need medical care. Because my field will involve medicine, I might be able to find a cure for mental illness, which would be a great accomplishment :)
I would like to minor in French and English because the French language fascinates me and because I want to be a writer, I will need an education in English. I am also very fond of English and have an appreciation for most Literature (most since I don’t like To Kill A Mocking Bird by Harper Lee).
The Pre-Collegiate program is helping out by giving me a better chance to get into the college of my choice and also to have the experience I need for college-based classes. The Pre-collegiate will also give me that medical foundation I need to be successful.

  2. Pharmacy is also my interest because I would like to contribute to society in a positive way. When I volunteer, I always smile because I know that I am helping someone, which got me engrossed in the medical field. If I can put a smile on a person’s face, or make sure they get what they need, I’ll be pretty happy ☺

  3. Isioma-- sounds like you have some serious plans for college, and that's just great! Check to see if the schools that you want to attend has something like the University of Colorado's BA/BS-MD program, which will allow you to major in both a liberal arts program and Pre-Med. Plus, if you succeed with that program, you're guaranteed a seat in the School of Medicine. There's more information about this program here: http://ucdenver.edu/academics/colleges/CLAS/BachelorsPrograms/ProgramsDegrees/BABSMD/Pages/home.aspx

I'm glad that you're in the Pre-Collegiate program and that you find it helpful. Don't forget that with this program you'll also gain an incredible support network of teachers, mentors, and peers no matter what college you go to or what you decide to study. I hope you keep in touch with the people you meet here!
